Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling den, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel building that contains numerous luxuries in addition to the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
