There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is not permitted. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are allegedly required to cross, there are means around this, as is true of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel compound that features numerous amenities aside from the gambling hall, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
