Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is banned. Eight casinos are established in a generally small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel building that contains numerous luxuries in addition to the casino, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight table games.
